Who is eligible for the Program?

This program serves families within one hour of Missoula. Any family that is pregnant, just gave birth, or before their baby is three months old are eligible to enroll.  Also, this program is for anyone who is parenting a new baby- whether you are a dual parent household, single parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle or any relative that acts as the primary caretaker of a baby.

How much will the program cost me and my family?

This program is completely FREE! There is absolutely no cost to you or your family for being involved.

How do I make a referral?

Making a referral couldn’t be more simple. First of all, ANYONE can make a referral. If you are interested in services for your own family, are related to (or friends with) a family who could use these services, or a professional in the community who works with families you can reach out to us to make a referral. All you have to do is contact us at (406) 546-7642 or emma@shelter4children.com, and we will do the rest!

What does the referral process look like?

After we receive a referral we will go through the eligibility process to see if the family would be a good fit for the program. One of Healthy Foundations Support Specialists will meet with you and your family to learn more about you, and answer any questions you may have about the program. If you eligible and interested, then you will be enrolled in Healthy Foundations. The choice to be in this program is completely up to you. It’s that simple!

Home visiting? What does that mean for me and my family?

We know that the idea of inviting someone into your home during such an eventful time can seem a little worrisome. We find that some of the best conversations happen in a living room or around a kitchen table. A Healthy Foundations worker visits families regularly to answer questions, provide support, share information, and empower you in raising your young children where you feel most comfortable: in your own home. Our job is not to make any judgment of you and your home, but instead provide the support you need to give your baby a healthy, happy start!

What services do you provide?

Aside from our in-home support specialist services, we are an expert in community resources in the Missoula area. Healthy Foundations will work with your family to establish goals that are important to you, connect you to appropriate resources, and advocate for your family while navigating challenging systems such as housing, medical care, and child care. We want to make sure that you have all the things that you need to be successful parents. More than anything, babies need love and attention, but so often families feel that they don’t have the items necessary for a new baby. We will help you to locate what you need and get fully prepared for your baby to come home with you. Healthy Foundations also provides child development screenings for your baby to ensure that they growing to be a happy healthy child.

What makes Healthy Foundations different?

Healthy Foundations uses the evidence-based home visiting model called Healthy Families America. This model is backed by years of research showing that it has a positive impact on the outcomes for children, families, and communities alike. The Healthy Families America model is strength-based, and family focused. It has been providing amazing in-home visiting services to families throughout the country for over 25 years.
